Prince Frederick Rotary Club

Introductory Information

The Prince Frederick Rotary Club is a local area club chartered by Rotary International, an organization that is world-wide in scope with over 1.2 million Rotarians more than 30,000 clubs which are part of 528 districts in 200 countries and territories.

In the picture to the right, Past Governor of our Rotary District, Harvey Garcelon, left, presents the club charter to William Newkirk, our club's first president, in 1964.

Our club supports the goals of Rotary International with a number of humanitarian projects.

Except for Federal holidays, we hold weekly dinner meetings every Monday from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, usually at Stoney's Restaurant in the Fox Run Shopping Center in Prince Frederick . (See our current schedule.)  After dinner we usually have a speaker from the community.  Rotarians lives are enriched through fellowship at these meetings as well as by participation in club projects and social affairs.

Membership is by invitation to those business and professional persons who believe in humanitarian service, high ethical standards, goodwill, and peace in the world.  Generally, the club seeks people from a wide spectrum of vocations but limits the number from a specific occupation. There are no restrictions based on nationality, sex, or religion.

The personal obligations of being a Rotarian are:

living your personal life in accordance with the tenets of Rotary (see What Is Rotary?),
attending the weekly meetings, and
participation in our various events.

Our dues (Local, district, and international) are assessed each quarter along with payment for meals.  Quaterly oblicgations are about $257.00.  This includes ach week contributing $3.00 toward Rotary's PolioPlus program and The Rotary Foiundation's Paul Harris Fellow program.

See the "About Us" section of the Rotary International web site for an overview the international organization, its history, and accomplishments.
